Six word short story competition
In the 1920s, Ernest Hemingway bet ten dollars that he could write a complete story in just six words. He wrote: "For Sale: baby shoes, never worn." He won the bet. At the Hospital Club writers salon last night, we had our annual six word short story competition and I won second place (and with that honour, a rather fetching Penguin Classics mug for Agatha Christie’s The Body in the Library: )
I came up with a few entries, all of which I have posted today on the Six Word Stories website. But the winning (or second-place winning) entry, as voted by the jury of writers in attendance last night was:
"She beats me; I need her."It may not be Hemingway, but I was pleased with it.
